Ecce Puer – James Joyce:
Of the dark past a child is born
With joy and grief my heart is torn
Calm in his cradle the living lies
May love and mercy unclose his eyes
Young life is breathed on the glass;
The world that was not comes to pass
A child is sleeping: an old man gone
O, father forsaken, forgive your son!
Wrote this tune for my son Malcolm Grieve who is in Mexico just now and has bought a drop G banjo.
Country song – words & music by Don Grieve.
A song written by Walter Liederschmitt, London 2012. We helped make this recording in April. It’s a little fun about New Year and its possibilities foretold. Thanks for a great time in Trier Walter 🙂 www.voltaire-woltaehr.de
This is how Walter describes the song:
Song inspired by London & the mood, New Year’s Day 2012, early morning, queuing up for tickets to the Da Vinci exhibit in the National Gallery, Trafalgar Sq., reading a newspaper outlook for 2012: that on June 6th Venus will make her 2nd transit journey (whatever that means); and that the Mayan Calender says: Dec 21st may be the world’s end. I don’t believe it: We’ll survive (most of us)… Because: This year won’t be like a riding on the gloom tube — ‘t will be (run in) a love train… according to a TV comedian (BBC, New Year’s night, 1:40am). The World’s End now is a pub near Camden Town Station, formerly named: The Mother Red Caps, founded in 1676, frequented by Karl Marx, Frederick Engels and Wilhelm Liebknecht, Londoners of the 2nd half of the 19th century, which tickles me as I am a visitor from Germany too!
Hope you enjoy the song – It’s my song of the year 2012 !!!

A song on the banks of the Mosel.
Hello All You Good Folk Out There! We have had a wonderful time of things on the Mosel River sailing along in a Roman Galley. Great scenery, fantastic wine, what a location. Later we were up the high banks for a quick lunch before filming again on the banks of the Mosel. Last night performed in an old tower in the city of Trier. Such amazing locations we are having the opportunity to perform. Today May Day we are off to the woods to play and relax around a BBQ fire and a few local white wines and a sparkling or two. We wish you all a fantastic May Day/Labour Day. Ciao to the next page of events.
